This is the most misunderstood figure in the category. A 15W pad delivers 15W if the phone asks for it. Standard iPhones on a plain Qi pad cap at 7.5W regardless of the pad’s rating — 15W is unlocked only over MagSafe or Qi2. Most current Android phones do accept 10W or 15W over plain Qi.
So is it worth paying for?
Yes, for two reasons. It future-proofs the gift as recipients upgrade to Qi2 handsets, and the price gap over a 10W pad is small. Just do not print “15W fast charging” on an insert card going to an iPhone-heavy audience — that claim will be tested and it will not hold.
