What a pad is good at, and what it is not
A pad is the right choice when the budget is per-head and the recipient count is high: it is the lowest-cost wireless charger with a full-size branded surface. It is the wrong choice for someone who needs to see their screen while charging — the phone lies face down and notifications are missed, which is why a stand is the better executive gift.
The wattage question, answered honestly
15W is the pad’s maximum output, not the phone’s intake. Standard iPhones accept 7.5W from a plain Qi pad regardless of its rating; 15W happens only over MagSafe or Qi2. Most current Android phones will take 10W or 15W. Buy 15W if your audience is mixed — but do not print “15W fast charging” on an insert card going to an iPhone crowd.
Top materials
Bamboo is the most popular and laser engraves permanently. Tempered glass tops give the most premium look and often carry a backlit or edge-lit logo. Fabric and RPET tops take a full-color digital print and are the most forgiving of complex artwork. Cork sits between the two on both price and finish.
Case thickness
Charging works through most cases up to about 3 mm. It does not work through a metal case, a metal ring or mount plate, or a wallet case with cards in it — the cards can also be damaged. This is the most common post-giveaway support question in the whole category, so it belongs on the insert.
